Location, location, location! As someone who likes to travel with their dog, here they not only allow them, they are welcomed as invited guests! This was our second Labor Day Weekend at OVI, and we loved it. The new Beach Bus Diner was a great addition. The desk staff are wonderful. The overall atmosphere is very chill. Everything you could need or want for the weekend is only minutes away by foot. We parked the car on Friday and didn't move it again until Monday other than to move it closer to our room.

Check-in was very pleasant and easy; we had a downstairs room with a terrace but no view of the ocean. I believe some upstairs rooms may have this. The bathroom was a bit old fashioned. It's certainly not a luxury hotel. It is however on the beach, and you can walk to the beach easily. It's a dog friendly beach and it's fun to watch all the people bring their dogs. The dogs are really happy to be running around on the sand and in the water. And now, no unpleasant surprises when walking around, it was clean. The neighborhood is relaxed and you can walk to dinner and back easily. Sort of a 1950s beach town vibe.

I ❤️ love love love the fact that I found a place this close to the beach! And if need be, dogs are welcomed! I don't mind! Little Ramona 🐕 was included!! Dog run/play area kept clean! Bathing area for dogs!! Staff nice and friendly!! Getting remodeled so I can't wait to see results!! Love the landscape! Succulents everywhere! 🌵 should sell cuttings 🤔 on-site food truck/trailer open but I've yet to try!! Soon! Pet lovers welcome! I'm saying no more! Can't brag too much and have it overbooked!! 🌴 🍻 🍾🍷🍸🍹

The price and proximity. It’s pet friendly, but this trip I didn’t take my dog. It was just a quick, gotta take my friend to the airport trip. But I definitely want to return with my husband and dog because it’s right next to a dog beach, so it’s absolutely perfect for a family trip. Parking was $15 a day plus tax, but you were basically guaranteed a spot in front of your room. Very nice location and within walking distance from food and coffee.

You can see the beach from your room. My room had a balcony. We had dinner on the balcony, which was cool and cute! The beach is like a hop, skip, and jump away. It has a rustic feel and they have a food truck! If you have a dog you can bring your dog. I was impressed that this is a dog friendly hotel and area, but it doesn't smell like dogs. Amazing location, amazing price! There's is a very active social scene at night.

Our suite was quite large, and comfortable. It was nice to be able to watch the sunset from our large balcony. The location was good as expected. And they are renovating more rooms so it will only get better. NOTE: the photo I have included of the back of the motel shows a Bible that I did not put there on the ground but was there, which is why I took the picture. I did not see a Bible in our hotel room and have no idea if the Bible came from there.

The location cannot be beat with easy access to the ocean and in a fun neighborhood. The staff were all outstanding and so helpful - they really went above and beyond to help make my stay stress free! The new "diner" outside was a great touch and served good food at a reasonable price.

Great location, right next to the beach. Staff members were friendly. The little balcony was enjoyable. We were very centrally located, not far from the attractions we drove to each day. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. Every morning on my walk I could see surfers doing their thing at seven. To get to be right next to the beach in San Diego for a reasonable price was really nice. And the heated pool was a bonus. Some trim painting was going on outside, which was good to see. Also, great to have a fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable.

Perfect place to access Ocean and Dog beach. If there is no beach parking, no problem just walk, 5 mins.. This is an old hotel that we have stayed at for 35 yrs.. There has been improvements,. But perfect for kids and dogs...

Location is so perfect for getting around by car to get to MB or PB plus the freeway. With easy access to the public beach , tennis courts , walk bike , swim it was a great spot.So fun to walk to the designated off/leash dog beach and watch all the cavorting in sand and waves!
